What Causes Green Colored Bowel Movement In An Infant?
My baby is a preterm case, born at 29 weeks of gestation. Now he is 4 months old. He is passing stool greenish in colour and is very sticky. We are feeding him with Dexolac Special Care as his mother breast feeding is not available. Please advise me what to do ?
hi...welcome to healthcare magic.com Green coloured stools associated with foul smell, frothing, increased frequency and loss of weight gain in babies could be due to infection . Always wash and sterilise your feeding bottles properly.
If your baby has only green coloured stools not associated with any of the above symptoms and has good weight gain, then it indicates your baby is producing excess bile pigments and you are underfeeding your baby . increase the amount of dexolac you are giving and the stools will come back to yellow colour within a week .
