hi. my baby is 5and half months old. He is passing green color stool and has loose motions. Doc has suggesed zifi 50 3.75 ml twice a day and rinifol 50 2.5 ml thrice a day.. Its been 2 days since i m giving medicine but he is still passing green color stool and cries a lot during night..Please advice..are both the medicines safe for my baby??..how long does it take to heal. He is completely on breast feed. His appetite has also reduced and he is passing less urine then before.
As per your query your baby has green coloured stools which is mainly physiological in nature and it could due to flavoured drink mixes, iron therapy and it could be due to infection by Clostridium Difficile leading to watery diarrhea.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- give child only breast feeding for first 6- 8 months.
- maintain hydration status of child.
- give child proper rest.
If symptoms keeps on persisting visit pediatrician/ gastroenterologist once and get complete examination done. You should go for blood and stool tests and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
