What Causes Green Coloured Bowel Movement?

Within the last 2 days I ve noticed that my feces is green in color. No abdominal pain, diareaha, constipation. Nothing that I can think of, out of the ordinary, dietary change. No new meds recently( within 4-5 months). It does have an unusually strong odor.

Hi, thanks for your question.

I'm glad to help with your concerns.

First thing I think of when my patients complain of greenish discoloration of stool is recent frequent consumption of green vegetables and green foods.

However, in the absence of that, you are most likely having a gut infection. This occurs when foreign and unhealthy bacteria, parasites, or viruses colonize your gut.

It is often nothing to worry about. Just take probiotics such as yoghurt which could help restore bacterial balance to the gut, and if it persists for longer than a few days. You should visit your doctor to run a analysis on the stool, then make an appropriate prescription.

I hope i have answered your question. Please get back to me if you've got more questions

Warm regards.
