What Causes Green Discharge From The Nipple Post A Breast Reconstructive Surgery?
Hi I m a 54 year old breast cancer survivor and I had a bi-lateral mastectomy and, then later reconstructive surgery. So, now i m feeling a big knot, having a green discharge, and experiencing pain in the right breast only. And the leakage comes through the nipple of the right breast. I m trying not to panic but, i m very concerned about these symptoms. I decided to go to the emergency room because of the pain and the green discharge. But, I thought I would ask my web.me this evening and ask about my issue first. Anything you can help me with I would greatly appreciate.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. So far as symptoms narrated here, there is possible internal collection of fluid or pus inside the right breast which is giving knot feeling and the green discharge is due to specific bacteria as Klebsiella or else. I recommend to consult your surgeon in the morning and get culture report of the discharge with ultrasound of the breast done for further management guidelines. There is no need to rush to an ER unit.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
