Hi nice to hear the problem of your baby you don't need to worry,if baby isn’t latching on properly, he won't be getting the fat-rich, creamy milk that comes later in the feed. This is what provides most of the calories your baby needs, and which makes him feel full. If he’s only getting the lower-fat, watery milk at the start of a feed, he’ll be hungry again very soon, and will need to feed more often.
This means that over 24 hours, your baby will be drinking more milk than he would have done if he’d been properly latched on. His body may not be able to cope with the increased amount of lactose (milk sugar) in the watery milk.
If he can’t digest the increased amount of lactose properly, there will be more gas and water than usual in his gut. This will give him cramping pains and runnier, green (often explosive) poos.
The good news is that the problem is easily solved. Ask a
breastfeeding counsellor or your health visitor to check that your baby is properly latched on and feeding for long enough at each breast. This will ensure he gets all the fat-rich milk he needs.
The same thing can happen if you’re taking your baby off your breast after a set length of time. So try waiting until your baby decides he's finished feeding from your first breast, before offering your other breast.Best regards Dr wasif
