Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello..my son is 4 and a half month old..he is suffering frm a green loose tool 6-7 times a day..doc advised me to stop giving mother milk...for 3 days n start giving Isomil powder...and enterogerminia , WHO ORS n ofloxacin metronidazole suspesion...so..doc shuld i stop giving mother milk to my son..is it safe??
Here might be suspicious of lactose overload from the breast milk causing greenish loose stools; viral infection; normal in some babies; allergy to something in mother`s diet; something green in mother/baby`s diet; medications for mother/baby, etc.
Temporary stopping of mother`s milk is not dangerous, it is a safe decision for early recovery of the child, only have to maintain hydration level at its best level with alternative liquids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
