What Causes Greenish Nasal Discharge Along With Headaches And Swollen Eye?

Hello, I have had nasal blockage on my right side for about a month now, I started out with pure white discharge from my nose, then began to get terrible pressure and pain on the right side of my face along with yellow discharge, went to my doctor who prescribed augmentin 3x daily for ten days. 6 days later and still no relief. Went to emergency care because the discharge has turned to a green cottage cheese. The headaches are excruciating and my eye is a little swollen. I have acute sinusitis and have had my sinuses scrapped several years ago.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This suggests acute sinusitis with probable progression to surrounding cellulitis of orbital tissues. As this is unilateral and has not responded to antibiotics, we have to rule out any obstruction to nasal drainage with a polyp or foreign body also. Since the condition may need injectable antibiotics on an emergency basis, kindly consult an ENT specialist without delay.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
