Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I noticed a single strand of grey hair on my 3½ year old daughter today. I would like to know if it could be external factors or some vitamin deficiency. There is no known history of young children having grey hair in either my or my wife's family. She is a healthy child. We are vegetarians and our ethnic background is Asian.
It usually has to do with genetics, but in your child's case it could also have to do with the nutrition and environmental factors like the water (and what it contains like hard water, or higher than normal levels of chlorine, etc.), higher than normal levels of stress, etc. All these factors can play a contributing role and need to be looked into.
Best wishes.
