I have pain in my left groin regoin about 5 inches below the waist, just above the penis and to the left. The pain is only flet when I cough or take a step down stairs. The pain kinda shoots down the left side of my groin and kinda toward my inner thigh next to my left testicle. I have had this more than once in the past and both times I was diagnosed with epididymitis and given antibiotics which seem to have cleared it up. Both times I gave urine samples to be tested for infection but both were clear. The last time I gave a urine sample at the hospital to be tested for chlamyida and gonerreha which also came back negative. Last night I did some exercising which included using an eliptical machine and some standing leg lifts. I woke up in the middle of the night with this pain again and I am curious if you think it has more to do with the exercising or if you feel it sounds more like an infection. I really can't feel any pain in the testicle (I don't think so anyhow). Thanks for any advice.
Hi. The causes of groin pain radiating to the testicles are: Lower ureteric impacted stone. Testicular torsion. Severe urinary tract infection. Obstructed hernia Your history of pain increase on coughing or stepping down indicate that this may be due to obstructed hernia. IT is less likely by epididymitis. To make certain the diagnosis of your suffering I would advise you the following: Ultrasonography and color doppler of the scrotum and lower abdomen. Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon, who on examination will advise further tests if necessary. Once diagnosed get operated if asked to.
