Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 54 years old, female.i was placed on quitiapine 300 mgs for 6 years. Approximately 6 months ago I started having painful groin pain about 20 minutes after taking the medication. About the same time , my calf muscles were twitching. The rhumatologist I saw said he thought it was the medication but made an appointment for me to see nuerologist. I was told to stop quitiapine cold turkey. After stopping I had extreme muscle pain , this has lasted for 4 weeks since being off medication. Now I have pins and needles in legs and arms.Twitching has definitely let up but I feel unwell. Sore muscles, no weakness. Joint pain as well.

What Causes Groin Pain While On Quetiapine?
Hello, * The Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic drug used for control of psychosis and other conditions. There are many side effects of the Quetiapine, some of them are - dizziness - electrolyte imbalance - headache - palpitation - abdomen pain - constipation - muscle cramps * However, the effects of side effect do not last for a period of 4 weeks as mentioned here. A systemic approach for any other causes has to be followed for underlying cause of concern and treat accordingly. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
