What Causes Gum Infection Despite Taking Amoxicillin And Metronidazole?
I ve lost some bone tissues around the last molar because of smoking, the swelling started with a small point, my skin cracked near it, and now the swelling is coverin the 3 molars. I went to dentist, he game me amoxicillin with a combination of metronidazole. I ve ended the course of 10 days. Infection is still there around all molar teeths. Please help.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of gum infection despite taking Amoxicillin and Metronidazole which seems to be due to tooth abscess and spread of infection through spaces, it could be due to periodontitis and due to poor oral hygiene.
Need not to worry about it. I would suggest you to avoid touching or pricking gums with any sharp object. Visit periodontist once and get it examined. Go for complete examination and start treatment after that. Go for scaling and root planning it is due to deposition of deposits. You should take care of oral hygiene maintenance. Use antiseptic mouthwash. Brush and floss twice a day. Avoid intake of sharp and spicy food. Do warm saline gargles several times a day.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
