What Causes Hacking Cough And Itchy Feeling In The Chest And Rib Cage?

Hi doctor, I have been having a deep cough that sounds loose but doesn t produce much. I have been taking mucinex for it. My question is... what causes my chest and ribcage area to itch inside?? I wonder if I should be taking an antihistamine as well?

It would have been better to know your age. Any particular life style habit like smoking etc. What is the duration of the cough. Since you have been taking Mucinac(sic) so you have likely visited a doctor. so have any other investigations been done. if not get CBC Absolute Eosinophil count, CXR PA view FBS PPBS and sputum for AFB.
