Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My hair has suddenly started falling out. I take levothyroxine for a slow thyroid and I believe at 47 my hormones may be off as,my breasts are producing milk and I have never had children???? I m panicing about my hair. What could it be that s making it fall out??? I m SO upset.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, possibility of hormonal imbalance is more. At your age of 47, women tend to develop menopause. And menopause can cause hormonal imbalance and all these symptoms. You are also having infertility and now producing milk from breasts. This are commonly seen with prolactin producing tumour (prolactinoma). So consult endocrinologist and get done serum prolactin level and MRI brain to rule out prolactinoma. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
