What Causes Hair Loss While On Symbicort?

I am experiencing more than normal hair loss on my head. I am using Symbicort 80 prescribed by my pulmonologist after an extremely bad spell of pneumonia in both lungs. I was given many different types of drugs in the hospital while in ICU for 10 days. could you help me pinpoint any drugs that could lead to hair loss?

Hi,

Symbicort is a combination of a steroid and a long-acting bronchodilator used to prevent bronchospasm in people with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. These drugs usually do not cause hair loss.

There are different types of medications that can cause hair loss as a side effect. Antibiotics, antifungals, imunosupressants, anticoagulants, some antihypertensive drugs like beta blockers and ACE inhibitors are some of the class drugs that could lead to hair loss.

I suggest to consult physically your local doctor for the right diagnosis and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo,
