What Causes Hair Thinning And Burning Sensation On Scalp Despite Using Retinoids?

HI , I have beenexperienceing a slight burning sensation on my scalp. A bit itchy but very pinpoint areas. The hair is now seems to be thinning in those areas. The scalp is a bit red only in those areas. Any ideas? I do take retinoids but that has been very long term ( more than 30 yrs) and this is a new issue.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have hair thinning and burning sensation on scalp which seems to be due to fungal infection, hormonal changes, environmental factors and due to increased stress levels at times. I would suggest you to massage your hairs twice weekly to increase circulation with mild steroids at mid night. Drink plenty of water. Consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may order skin patch test, blood test and physical examination and start Vitamin A ,Omega-3 and Vitamin E supplements in diet.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
