What Causes Hallucination After Taking Large Doses Of Prednisone?
My Mother is taking large doses of prednisone for Giant Cell Arteritis. She is taking 80 mg doses and is experiencing hallucinations. She is in a rehab facility and I was told by a nurse that the hallucinations can be a side effect of prednisone, but I have never heard of that. Is it true?

Yes, steroid induced psychosis or severe depression may present like the symptoms as you discussed. Her primary care physician may be consulted to tapper off steroids or may be replaced with steroid sparing agents.
