What Causes Hallucinations And Short-term Memory Problems While On Xanax And Restoril?

Just looking at side effects of some medications that my 87 year old father is taking and he has started having some serious short term memory problems. He was on hydocodone for pain for several years plus trazadone for sleep and then started some xanax as well fir agitation. He seem to start getting confused at night and was having a hard time finding the bathroom. Plus he seemed to start having some hallucinations seeing bright colors. He is now off hydocodone and trazadone and is now taking restoril and xanax and his short term memory is getting worse. These symptoms have really increased over the past year we don t know if it s the medications or dimentia, but these drugs do list memory impairment side effects. What is your oppinion.

@ The Xanax contains Alprazolam, which has side effects such as
- dizziness
- insomnia
- memory problems

@ The Restoril contains Temazepam and has side effects such as
- hallucination
- memory problems
- confusion
- agitation
- depressed mood

As there is ongoing issues with memory and hallucinations with bright colors, he needs dose adjustment with or without molecule changes.
