What Causes Hallucinations In A Patient Who Has Dementia And Gout?

My Dad is 86 and has dementia and gout. He has been on donepezil for a month and started having musical hallucinations. He has been off the med for about 3 days now but is still having these hallucinations. How long does it take for these things to go away?
