What Causes Hand And Wrist Pain While Sleeping During Pregnancy?
Ever since pregnancy (youngest child is now 12), I have had times, especially at night when my right hand and wrist falls asleep.... It even wakes me up sometimes.... I am overweight... that is the info. I can give you... my question is what can I do to relieve the occurances and when it flares, the pain...?
It is possible that the numbness or decrease sensation can be due to carpal tunnel syndrome. This can produce symptoms at night when a persons is sleeping.
It is caused by compression of a nerve as it passes through a space by the wrists called the carpal tunnel. Early diagnosis and treatment would prevent any permanent damage.
It is diagnosed based on history and also specific findings when examined by a doctor. There are specific examination tests that need to be done.
Treatment includes medication, braces, certain exercises or surgery if needed.
I hope this helps
