Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Re my left hand, when on the elliptical my left hand sometimes freezes on the bar and I have to think it open. My right hand hurts at the thumb and wrist especially when I attempt doing the plank from a hands position. I can do it if I use my fingers rather than the palm of my right hand. I have an appointment scheduled the week after next with a hand specialist.
As per my surgical experience, the issue of hand to freeze suddenly particularly involving thumb and wrist (known as trigger finger) indicate issue with extensor tendon dysfunction through nerve compression at flexor sheath or other neuro muscular compartment level. After thorough clinical examination, your hand specialist will guide you regarding need of an MRI with or without surgical intervention of decompression if the same is the diagnosis as mentioned above.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
