Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Hard And Painful Lump Under Lower Left Rib Cage?
I have scholiosis and spondylosis as well as tmj. the involentary movements (twitches or spasems) are gradually worsening over the years and now am diagnosed by xray with OsteoArthritis too. Recently I suffered and was treated for a Severe Bladder Infection that still leaves me running to the bathroom in hopes that i make it in time. this happens Extremely Sudden! And now, Non Stop Sinus Congestion (with Clariton daily) and a Constant Cough from previous Respritory Infedections and Allergies. AND, I am having pain on my left side that is located near the bottom rib and almost directly in line beneath my armpit that is a swollen hard like lump that is growing slowly. My question is, what could cause this? It is sensitive, little painful and a lot of pain with movement, and could it be a vital organ that may be clogged or a muscle ligament that could be protruded from coughing? Or could it be more serious? The hard like Lump is deep under the skin and internal along the same direction as my last rib. It is numb and yet a bit painful at the same time and is somewhat warm and tingly too.
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The most common reason for a lump forming on the ribs is something known as a lipoma, which is a collection of fatty tissue. This type of lump can lie beneath the surface of the skin covering a rib. They are usually painless, freely mobile under your fingers and stay the same over time. It should be confirmed through an abdominal ultrasound.
