I pinched my thumb in between closing closet doors and it was a hard hit with a white dot under the nail plus blood. It never healed. Instead I had something consistently growing at the nail tip. The area got a very hard whitish color skin with 3 small black dots on top. I then got cracks in the skin which really hurt when I bumped something. This has been going on for 1 1/2 years. I cut off the hard white area because I didn t feel it, trying to cutoff the black dots. It was hard cutting around the open cut. Now my other thumb started to show these symptoms plus 3 other nails cut the nail way back and when the white came through, I would get it cut away immediately. I saved those nails. A pharmacist said it may be a wart? I tried wart remover, nothing fixed it. I filed it down with a nail file. The hard skin is very hard to cut. My toe nails got thick and had the hard white area just at the tip of the nail. Lamisil spray and good cutting seemed to help. What is going on/? Would I consult a podiatrist or a dermatologist? Any suggestions?
