What Causes Hard Itchy Pus Filled Lump On The Surgical Sutures?
I have a yellow lump that has come up with red around it next to my scar on one of the scarred stitches. it is hard and very itchy. it has come up previously on occasion and has gone in a day (I thought it was a bug bite but now I think it is more serious) what could it be?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of hard itchy pus filled lump on the surgical sutures which is because of persistence of infection in that area. There are chances you have underlying systemic disease such as diabetes which is delaying healing in that area. Take a proper course of antibiotics to subside infection. Visit oral pathologist once and go for Gram's staining, culture and sensitivity from the pus discharge. Maintain proper cleanliness of that area. Apply betadine cream and polysporin ointment to heal the infection faster. Drink plenty of fluids to maintain hydration levels of body. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit dermatologist once for proper examination and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
