What Causes Hard Knot On The Inside Of Buttocks?

My husband has ulcerative colitis and has been experiencing colon pain near the rectum. He has noticed while showering tonight that he has a hard knot on the inside of his buttocks near the rectum. Any ideas? He is in contact with his doctor to schedule a colonoscopy. He says it doesn t feel like he has to use the bathroom.

I really appreciate your concern, two possibilities may be likely one is lymph node, and second would be abscess, but this need to be ruled out with clinical conditions else this is nothing to worry, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
