Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom went to the doctor a few weeks ago. She has a rectangle shaped hard mass under her breast. It is about the size of a brick! Lengthwise anyhow. It is very hard. She said it Hurts like hell, but does not get hot to the touch. Her doctor said it is heartburn, which she does have and does have a prescription for. It has not gotten any smaller in the past two weeks. It just doesn t sound like heartburn. I did not go to the appointment with her. Do you think she is telling me the truth? Heartburn really? thanks. Deb
A brick sized hard mass can't be missed by doctors. It could be due to giant fibroadenoma breast, fibro-adenosis of breast, a large connective tissue tumor of chest wall, a big hematoma, or big rib tumor.
Heartburn will never present as a big hard mass. Whatever it may be, your mom needs thorough clinical examination of the tumor and ultrasound imaging for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Please do consult a general surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
