What Causes Hard Lump Under The Incision Area In Abdomen?

I had surgery to remove my ovaries almost 3 mo ago. The incision is from belly button down to pelvic area and was infexted. It has been healing better but there is a long hard lump under the incision that hurts. My surgeon said it will go away with time and shouldn t hurt but it does and it isn t going away. Do you have any opinions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I really appreciate your concern about the lump following a Major surgery. I want to here assure you that your Surgeon is quite right in this matter.
The long hard lump you are feeling is due to the the Granulation tissue formed on healing sutures which will go aways after the healing process is completed.
I advise you to keep the area dry, clean and thake your medicines as prescribed. I wish you a speedy recovary and feel free to asky any further question

Regards,
Dr.Abhijeet
