What Causes Hard Pimple Like Growth At The Back Of The Neck?

I have a wierd break out on the back of my neck, I thought it was a pimple and then it got really hard and now I have multiple of themy on the back of my neck. I got the first one about a month ago. I have tried different things for acne but nothing seems to help. They are really hard and painful

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have hard pimple like growth at the back of the neck. It could be due to clogging of sebaceous glands by bacteria, debris and sebum as excessive glands are there apart from this growth can be lipoma , osteoma or some kind of injury . Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply cream containing azealic acid and over the counter anti inflammatory cream . Take diet rich in multivitamins. You should keep the area clean and maintain proper hygiene and wash it properly with cold water and apply topical antibacterial cream 0.2% mucopiorin. Take oral antibiotics as well. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription , doctor may take sample for lab test . You can go for laser therapy as well.Doctor may also recommend surgical excision . For now apply warm compresses and do not pick it .
