What Causes Hard Red Painful Lumps On The Calves?

I began running and developed hard painful lumps with redness, light bruising on my calf. I ve never experienced this before. It s been about a week to two weeks that I ve been running but lumps developed about a week ago. Can that more than likely be from running?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience with developed painful reddish lumps on your calf muscles for previous exercise activities (running) I will suggest you have developed a condition called Myositis (inflammation of the muscles) caused excessive muscle contraction from running

In view of this please apply an ice pack on it and take any of the following Tablet nurofen Tylenol feldene neurogesic cream

I hope this helps Regards
