Hi,
Noted the history about your husband who was admitted to a hospital for 20 days, got
bedsores, using Terrasil, bedsores are between the buttock and one one side has become white and standing like a pimple. The bed sores are actually totally avoidable if the nursing care was proper in the following ways:
- Apply spirit and allow to fry, apply talcum powder so that the skin becomes resistant for bedsores. Please do this for unaffected area like heels, calf and back as these are pressure points.
- As for the already developed bed sores the nature can be evaluated by a
general Surgeon or plastic surgeon and acted upon as per the condition.
- If there is any infection it needs to be opened up, dead tissues excised.
- Flap rotation surgery to cover the pressure point areas help a lot.
- Proper nutrition to have minimum protective fat pad, to tackle the weakness is also a must.
It is good that he can move around in walker, needs to be continued, ambulation is very important.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
