If you are constipated - which means your stool is hard, it will cause pain in your rectum/anal area during bowel movement. The area of your prior surgery: scar/stricture may add to this discomfort.
To help this problem you need to make sure that your stool is soft. Drink a lot of liquids and stay physically active. Prune juice is good to start with, if you can tolerate sweet juice. Medications to keep your stool soft and moving is Polyethylene glycol - PEG - available as Miralax and other brand names. It is available over the counter in Walmart and all other pharmacies. Mix the powder with a glass of water or another liquid and drink it every few hours until you start having bowel movement. Then take it only once a day or as frequently as needed to keep having soft and regular bowel movement.
