Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m obese, 400lbs and in the last week the skin in my penis area has become very painful and seems to be starting to close or constrict and my penis is very hard and painful to expose. the skin has split open in several spots. Any idea what could be causing this and who could I see.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The symptoms you describe even though not so clear may be caused by a local skin infection by a bacterium or fungus, skin irritation, dermatitis or an STI like syphilis or herpes.Just being obese predisposes you to infections around your groin/genital region given the skin folds that are always on this region in obese people.I will suggest you see your GP for primary evaluation. He may request for STI work-ups if need be.If a dermatological problem, he may send you to the Dermatologist. As of now, i can only encourage good genital hygiene till you are examined by a Doctor.Pain medications like ibuprofen may help if pain too serious. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
