What Causes Head Cold, Sore Throat And Fever When Diagnosed With Breast Cancer?
I was diagnosed with breast CA 2012. Stage 1A. I had symptoms of cold starting with sore throat x2 days and now presents as head cold. Temp was 100.4. No temperature before blood draw. I had to go in for blood draw for tumor markers. Can my cold affect the results?
Hello! I have been through your question. According your concern you should know that in medicine the persons that are diagnosed with CA are included in the group that we define as an immunosuppression persons (whose immune system is weak as a result of some therapies ). But,to say for sure this I need more information by you related the method of your treatment. Immunodeficiency can cause increased susceptibility to opportunistic infection such as bacteria, viruses, or fungi. So, related your symptoms I think this is uncomplicated viral situation for the moment and can last 4-5 days. Related to your question that the cold can affect the result of tumor markers I think that you shouldn't be worry. Usually the cold (viral situation) can affect only full blood count result (WBC, Lympho) but not tumor markers. I hope my answer help you. I wish you a quick recovery.
