What Causes Head Dents?

I noticed a dent on top of my head yesterday. It is almost 2 inches long from front to back and almost an inch wide. I didnot fall nor do i have any headache. And it is not sensitive to touch. I am 60 years old. Could you tell me what could it be? THank yoi.

I can understand your concern. As there is no history of significant head injury, this dent could be due to
: trivial trauma
: age related bone remodelling which is normal
: bone sclerosis or erosion which may be age related
: Due to bony lesion causing erosion e.g. osteomyelitis, dermoid, cyst etc. It can only be suspected if there is swelling at dent site which is palpable. If you have any doubt regarding any mass, you should consult doctor. He might advise you CT scan of head to find bony lesion after evaluation.
