Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 53 and contracted viral thyroiditis 6 years go.my thyroid is now severely underactive but I cannot tolerate thyroxine as it caused me to have crippling headache for the whole of the 5 months that I tried it for. Is it possible to get armour thyroid substitute in the UK on prescription as I have heard that it is better tolerated than synthyroid? Or a natural alternative?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if this is the thyroid dysfunction then you have to continue medicines for this and what ever medicines given for this are well tolerated and this does not cause any headache if you are having headache then this may not be due to thyroid medicine but could be something else and in my opinion better to see the consultant and discus this, hope this information helps, take care (There is no alternative medicines for thyroid dysfunction )
