i was hit in the side of the head in NY last saturday during a robbery but was not knocked unconscious, was able to give the police my report remembering all details. I had a headache just after it happened but it was gone within an hour. Basically is my noggin ok now? My equilibrium was knocked off for a sec when I was hit but was ok to stand up and walk to find a cop
I can understand your concern. Head injury can cause loss of consciousness but becomes important or serious when loss of consciousness extends more than 5 minutes. In your case, if complete unconsciousness was more than 5 minutes and you are having persistent headache despite taking painkillers, then you should consult neurosurgeon as soon as possible.
According to your history, your headache is relieved. So it is less likely that your head injury was serious. You can also observe other important alarming signs - : vomiting : bleed through nose/ear/throat : onset of new focal deficit : episodes of loss of consciousness or decreasing consciousness.
Hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
