Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 16 year old son often suffers from a sudden onset headache, nausea, and goes very pale when he is outside on a warm day. It doesn t take long 15-45 minutes will do it. His headache is bad enough that he will go to bed and stay there for 3-4 hours or sometimes go to bed in the early evening and not get up until the morning. Are there any conditions that make a person overheat easily. The rest of the family will be outside the same amount of time with absolutely no ill effects. I am constantly on him to drink water because I know that this sounds like dehydration but I don t believe that to be the case.
Mild headaches and migraines related nausea caused by dehydration or changes in the weather will usually go away on their own within one to three hours. Dehydration needs to be addressed. Amazingly, sunlight is also constantly reported as a trigger for migraine—Research has shown that it can take as little as 5 to 10 minutes of being out in the sun to lead to a headache or migraine attack for those who are sensitive. Still other reasons should not be written off. Therefore I suggest consulting a physician for physical examination, diagnosis and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. K. V. Anand, Psychologist
