What Causes Headache And Abdominal Bloating?

Hi doctor, I started with my periods on the 11th of August 2017 and ended on the 17th of August. Me and my boyfriend had sex on the 17th of August and the condom broke, we quickly rushed to the Pharmacy to buy Emergency contraceptives and I drank it less than two hours immediately after the incident. A few days later I started experiencing headaches and bloating in my stomach. So on the 26th of August 2017 I started again with my periods. So I need your help to explain to me what is going on with me and is it normal, or am I pregnant...

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Given your description it is impossible for you to be pregnant. It was unlikely from the start since the date of the intercourse was the end of your period, not enough time to ovulate. Even if there was any doubt getting your periods again excludes it. Taking the emergency contraceptive which is composed of hormones may have temporarily disrupted your regular cycle resulting in the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
