General & Family Physician 's  Response
You have a absolutely nothing to worry. What happened was a completely normal phenomenon. The 5th day of your period means you already lost quite a good amount of blood and there was loss in your blood hemoglobin levels by a fair bit. This coupled with suddenly getting up produced something called as postural hypotension which is a transient fall in your blood pressure and decreased blood flow to your brain for a short while. That was the cause of the dizziness and head feeling heavy. So be assured that there is nothing wrong with you. Take care. Be sure to contact me again if you do have any more queries.
