Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 39yrs old female. I was watching a movie for about 2hrs layinglayingi stood up to go to bed and suddenly started feeling dizzy and sweat all over my body followed with my head feeling heavy. It happened last month on the 5th day of my period, and it has happened again at same time. What could it be please? Thank you.
You have a absolutely nothing to worry. What happened was a completely normal phenomenon. The 5th day of your period means you already lost quite a good amount of blood and there was loss in your blood hemoglobin levels by a fair bit. This coupled with suddenly getting up produced something called as postural hypotension which is a transient fall in your blood pressure and decreased blood flow to your brain for a short while. That was the cause of the dizziness and head feeling heavy. So be assured that there is nothing wrong with you. Take care. Be sure to contact me again if you do have any more queries.
