What Causes Headache And Joints Pain After Taking Doxycycline And Amoxicillin?
Took doxycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 days and then started amoxicillin 500 mg three times a day per dr. Instructions for ongoing cough/congestion after the flu. Dr. Heard something right upper lobe...chest x-ray OK. Problem is today have I have bad headache and my joints hurt(shoulder, hips, knees...everywhere) I just feel crappy...ongoing non productive cough, sore throat. Fever ok at 98.8 . Could side effects of these 2 meds cause this? Thanks for any advice at this time.
Mostly, it is a coincedence from the infection increasing the inflammation of joints and giving sinus pain. The medications do not interact. Each might have an allergic response but it would likely involve other signs with fever, elevation of blood count, sed rate, wheeze or other things. The congestion is not a sign of allergic response or medication effect, but is common in infections.
