Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Headache And Redness, Peeling Of The Abdominal Skin?
I had chills one night my abdomen turned red and tender and a terrible headache. I took alkezelzer for the headache which went away the next morning. It s been two weeks my abdomen is still red and now the skin is peeling like a sunburn. What could it be? This also happened Christmas eve but I had some left over antibiotics from some a past visit so I used them and the symptoms went away at that time.
Most probable causes of redness and peeling of abdominal skin are contact dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, atopic dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, ichthyosis, actinic keratoses, lichen planus, and ring worm infection.
Treatment depends upon the cause. Topical steroid creams like hydrocortisone 1% and oral antihistamines are usually advised. Sometimes if the condition is severe, oral antibiotics, and steroids are recommended. Please do consult a dermatologist for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
