What Causes Headache And Sinus Pressure After Dental Procedure?
Hello, I had tooth removed and cadaver filling where I had a root canal previously about a week ago and then about 3 to 4 days ago I began to have sinus pressure, then pain, and then sever headache. The dentist and I assumed it's an infection so I began taking the antibiotic cefprozil two days ago, but the pain/sever headache has continued to get worse.
I've have a history of sinus infections and this feels the same except I don't have the allergy/cold symptoms that usually come before I get a sinus infection.
Any suggestions on what is wrong and what I can do to fix?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain many a times if you have got your upper jaw tooth removed and if the sinus lining is damaged as the upper back teeth lies very close to the sinus floor it can cause sinus infection.. Secondly if you ha previous history of sinusitis then it can be due to flaring up of infection.. In either condition the symptoms seems to be most probably due to sinus infection or sinusitis.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS view x ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants like Pseudoephadrine, do saline nasal irrigation, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room.. You can also be advised decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline or Oxymetazoline.. Avoid spicy and chilled foods.. Do warm compresses around nostrils.. In case if it does not resolve or recurs continuously then Endoscopic sinus surgery can be advised for relief..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
