What Causes Headache And Swollen Legs After A Mild Heart Attack?

I had a mild heart attack on May 4 and a bifurcated stent was put in my heart. Since then, my health has seemed about normal until yesterday when I had a rare, severe headache which has continued into today. During the previous week, I started having the worst swollen ankles and legs I ve ever had. New prescriptions since May are Plavix and Protonix. I have increased my dosage of Fuerosemide since the swollen ankles/legs of last week. Do you see any red flags?

Hi,

Under Plavix you are at a higher risk for bleeding. So, For the headache, you need to get checked by a neurologist who might order a head CT scan to rule out bleeding.

For the Leg swellings, you need to rule out deep vein thrombosis first. The emergency doctor could do a simple blood test and an Ultrasound for the legs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
