What Causes Headache And Throat Discomfort After Exposure To Bleach Fumes?

Hi. I cleaned 4 bathrooms and 2 kitchens using bleach over a week ago. My throat feels a little raw, I have been very tired and occasionally get headaches. Obviously chemical exposure. I am usually in excellent health. Should I go see my doctor? Will it pass? My concern is that I have damaged my olfactory glands. I have been smelling stink bugs.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes chemical exposure is causing you the symptoms and it looks like a prolonged exposure.
Your symptoms are due to chemical exposure oy and prolonged exposures can be toxic but in your case it seems to be side effects.
As it is already one week you should now consult an Emergency room or a Physician and get evaluated.
For now do warm saline gargles and take light and soft foods.
Drink plenty of water and sufficient rest.
Avoid taking any medicine without consulting a Physician and getting checked.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
