What Causes Headache, Cough, Cold And Intermittent Sweating?

I have had a dull headache and nasty cough with lots of discharge and my head is foggy. Also intermittent sweats with cold spells in between. My face hurts and my cheeks. I don t have a fever. Also I am exhausted even after a reasonably good nights sleep. Thank you, Kathy 64 years old

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have foggy head with nasal discharge and headache, you are suffering from allergic sinusitis. Sinusitis is commonly caused due to infection in the sinus, allergy due to dust, pollen, chemicals, fumes, pollution, etc. You can take steam inhalation for relief. Decongestants and antihistamines are effective. Take Acetaminophen or analgesics, one SOS when required.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT. Get X-ray PNS done to detect any nasal deviation, so that you can be treated at the earliest. If there is bacterial infection, you will need antibiotics. Stay well hydrated, take warm beverage. Stay away from addictions if any. Take adequate sleep.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
