What Causes Headache, Dizziness And Metallic Taste In The Mouth?
My mother complains of severe headaches, dizziness and a metallic taste in her mouth. Headaches respond well to being in a quiet, dark room. Dizziness is occasional and unpredictable. Metallic taste does not go away and overpowers the taste of any food. Suggestions? i am most interested in getting pointed into the direction of the proper type of physician to get a consult from.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It might be because of a migraine, as dark room gives relief, just take a painkiller before this happens, but as far as her age is concerned you must rule out any lesions or mass under the brain. So, what you do is: Do a proper CT of the brain and exclude the above cause. Otherwise, it is normal then nothing to get worried about. It would be a cluster, migraine or a tension-associated headache, just take antiemetic and muscle relaxant, plus dark room before signs and symptoms developed.
Avoid caffeine and chocolates as much as possible before attacks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ruby
