What Causes Headache, Dizziness And Stomach Upset After A Blood Transfusion?
My sister had a blood transfusion this past weekend. she received 8 units of blood. her hemoglobin level was 3.5 and when finished was up to 9.4. Yesterday she went to do a follow up and the doctor gave her a B12 shot and checked her hemoglobin it was 9.9. Within an hour she had a serve headache dizzy and sick to her stomach. She went back to the ER. They did a cat scan said they did not find anything. sent her home with medicine for the stomach sickness, and the dizziness. Could it be a transfusion rejection or could it be an allergic reaction or what?
It is possible to be the side effects of transfusions. Monitor your sister and if she has difficulty breathing, stiffness of the neck, rash, bleeding, fast heart rate goes immediately to the emergency room.
