What Causes Headache, Neck Pain And Excessive Sweating After A Fall?

My son was at football practice for HS this afternoon. He was in a play when he got tripped and as he landed he hit his head off another player. He s had a headache since and says his neck really hurts. Now about 4 hours later he s got the sweats. I had him take ibuprofen and ice his neck for about 20 minutes. Since then he s had the sweats. FYI - it s also 76 degrees in the house and he just had ice His eyes look fine / we checked Not sure what to do. Right now he s shirtless doing his homework

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what your son had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, he needs to have a CT scan brain to rule out any traumatic brain injury or internal bleed.

At times it may disturb bodies homeostasis however it can be stress induced or vasovagal reaction so should be monitored in a medical emergency room.

Meanwhile cold sponging as well as OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
