What Causes Headache, Tender Scalp, Swelling/pressure In Head/ear After Hit Head?
I fell and hit the back of my head while ice skating about 4 weeks ago. I still am experiencing mild headache, very tender scalp, and a 3 inch long swelling area, also pressure in my head and right ear. Just wondering if this is normal or if I should be concerned?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Normal degree of such symptoms for 5-7 days after head injury are acceptable. But you are having all these symptoms even after 4 weeks of injury,so we should definitely rule out internal brain injury in your case. You are also having ear symptoms which are also commonly seen with brain injury. So better to consult neurologist and get done clinical examination and MRI of brain to rule out brain injury. If all these are normal then no need to worry much. Apply ice packs on affected areas and take painkiller like ibuprofen. Don't worry, you will be alright but first rule out brain injury. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
