What Causes Headache When Having Family History Of Brain Tumor?

Hello Dr., I am aged 32 Years. With a small change in my routine I get headaches(Sometime 1 sided or sometimes overall) triggering factors could be - Oversleep, no caffeine , less sleep, skipping breakfast / lunch, a day out in bright sunlight, or a hectic day at office. My mom had brain tumor, she died at age of 57 years , apart from that no adverse family history. Do I have a possibility that I am also prone to brain tumor ?

Hello,

Headache due to less sleep, skipping a meal, expose to bright sunlight and sided or a hectic day at the office could be from migraine headache or tension headache.

Migraine headache the symptoms include pain usually on just one side of the head, pain that lasts an hour to days, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea and vomiting. Treatment such as ibuprofen, tylenol, for mild migraine pain. If your nausea and vomiting thorazine can help. But if you are severe migraine pleas go to see your home doctor to prescribe a stronger medicine like opioid or steroid. To prevent people who have Migraine headache that last 12 or more hours four or more times a month: they prescribe beta blockers, amitriptyline etc. But please go to see your doctor first.

Tension headaches tend to cause mild to moderate pain across the top, sides and back of the head and aren't usually worsened by light or sound. Treatment such as ibuprofen, naproxen. To prevent recurring tension headaches, your doctor might prescribe antidepressants drug like amitriptyline etc. But you have to discuss with your doctor first.

For headache from no caffeine cause from caffeine withdrawal headache cause caffeine narrow the blood vessels in your brain. Without it, your blood vessels widen. The resulting boost in blood flow could trigger a headache or result in other symptoms of withdrawal. This kind of headache you can use ibuprofen or tylenol and stay hydrated.

For a tumor in the brain, you may experience a headache with a neurological sign such as blurred vision, double vision, new onset and change pattern of headache, nausea or vomiting, loss of sensation on an arm or a leg gradually, difficult to balance, speech difficulties, confusion, seizure and hearing problem.

Please make an appointment with your doctor if you have a persistent sign and symptoms that concern you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
