What Causes Headache With Nausea After Head Injury?
My 10 year old daughter fell and hit the back of her head on the floor close to her neck. She was complaining of a headache yesterday. Today she said her headache is mild but when she stands up she feels like she needs to vomit. Does she need to see a doctor?
Hi, Thank you for using Healthcaremagic. I'm Sorry to hear about your daughter.
Usually most of these sort of falls don't result in serious injuries however once a patient shows signs such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, persistent headaches or weakness or numbness in the limbs that indicates the possibility of a serious underlying injury. Whenever these symptoms show up it is always wise to get a clinical exam done and if necessary a CT scan of the head should be done as well.
In the case of your daughter, since she has a headache and is nauseous, it is imperative that she a physician as soon as possible. I would also like to get a CT scan of the head done as well however the treating physician can be the best judge of that. It's possible that this is just a concussion however more serious conditions do need to be ruled out. I would strongly suggest a visit to the doctor's office.
